Some come from the good moments, some from the hard ones.
Some take me back to growing up, small towns, country roads, family, faith, and the lessons that stay with us long after the moment has passed. Others come simply from watching the people around me and noticing the stories hidden in ordinary life.
My songwriting is shaped by memories, conversations, struggles, laughter, loss, love, illness, hope, and the quiet moments most people might overlook. Sometimes it is the dust on a pair of boots, the sound of an old radio, a conversation across a table, or a prayer that is hard to put into words.
I gather those moments and turn them into songs about the lives we live, the burdens we carry, the people we love, and the faith that carries us through it all.

Michael Deason is the songwriter behind Red Dirt Grace, creating original Christian country songs inspired by faith, family, real-life experiences, and the stories people carry with them. His storytelling is also shaped by growing up on a farm. A two-time cancer survivor, he writes lyrics inspired by both the good and difficult seasons, sharing stories of God’s grace, mercy, hope, and faithfulness.
His writing draws on everyday moments, family memories, hardship, growing older, and a faith that continues to deepen in Christ. Set to country music with a modern sound, his words invite listeners to recognize God’s presence in ordinary moments and discover that even the hardest chapters can become part of a meaningful story.
Michael writes all of the lyrics and stories behind Red Dirt Grace and develops the musical direction for each song, shaping the arrangement, instrumentation, tempo, vocal style, harmonies, and overall feel. He uses AI-generated music and vocals as creative tools to help bring those songs to life.

My faith naturally finds its way into many of these songs because I have seen how even the difficult seasons of life can draw us closer to God. When we allow Him into our hurt, illness, disappointment, and pain, He can meet us in those broken places and bring meaning, hope, and sometimes even a song from something we never would have chosen to walk through.
Every melody carries a memory, every story comes from somewhere, and through it all runs a reminder of God’s faithfulness.
